AGL Resources’ Jefferson Island Storage & Hub Accepting Non-binding Bids for 1.425 Bcf Firm Capacity
HOUSTON – November 17, 2008
AGL Resources’ (NYSE: ATG) Jefferson Island Storage & Hub (JISH) facility will be accepting non-binding bids from November 19, 2008 through Friday, December 5, 2008 for up to 1.425 Bcf of firm storage. The capacity will be available starting April 1, 2009.
Located near the Henry Hub, JISH consists of two salt dome storage caverns with 7.2 Bcf of working gas capacity, 720,000 MMbtu/day withdrawal capacity and 360,000 MMbtu/day injection capacity.
JISH, an intrastate facility with authority to provide NGPA Section 311 service, currently provides storage and hub services through direct connection to the Henry Hub via Sabine Pipeline and interconnections with eight other pipelines: Texas Gas Transmission, Columbia Gulf Transmission, Sea Robin Pipeline, Tennessee Gas Pipeline, Gulf South Pipeline, NGPL, Trunkline Gas Pipeline and Crosstex Energy Pipeline. The facility's header system enables natural gas flow optimization. All of JISH’s interconnections have design capacities of at least 200,000 MMbtu/day and all but one is bi-directional for easy injection and convenient withdrawal capability. JISH also provides compression and 15 miles of dual 16-inch pipelines that provide interchange capabilities for the facility's nine large-capacity interconnections.
