Kathryn McCoy

Senior Corporate Counsel


As senior corporate counsel for AGL Resources, Inc., Kathryn McCoy is responsible for the energy, regulatory and business transactions of the AGL Resources development division. She joined the company in 2007 and is a highly experienced member of the AGL Resources legal organization specializing in the natural gas, storage and energy markets, including the associated regulatory environments.
 
Previously, Ms. McCoy served as an associate general counsel for Enterprise Products Partners L.P. and GulfTerra Energy Partners, L.P.; as director of regulated retail for Kinder Morgan, Inc.; and as a staff attorney in the office of the general counsel of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
 
Ms. McCoy is a member of the Energy Bar Association, a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the professional excellence and ethical integrity of its members in the practice, administration, and development of energy laws, regulations and policies. She is also a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel, an organization serving attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations and other private-sector organizations.
 
Ms. McCoy has served on the boards or supported various charitable organizations including Santa Maria Hostel (board member), the United Way Foundation, the Junior League, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Judicial Review Commission-City of Lakewood and the Jefferson County Orientation Project (committee chair).
 
A native of Kingsport, Tenn., Ms. McCoy graduated with honors from the University of Louisville with a bachelor’s degree in political science. She earned her juris doctorate at the University of Louisville School of Law and was admitted to the Kentucky bar. She was admitted to the Colorado bar in 1996.
